A Mad and Exciting Day

Morning All,

Yes it's early...thank you Elliot for waking me at 5am this morning. We are now camped out downstairs waiting for Daddy and Sophie to wake and a normal Friday to kick in.

Although after yesterday I am now beginning to see what a normal day will be like....and it's quite exciting. After the positive sale table at Little Mouslings on Wednesday and all the feedback and suggestions that came with it, I sat down to dabble with a Thank You Teacher Box Card. This is what I came up with.

I was so pleased with it, I posted it on Facebook...I've already received some requests and hopefully more to come as again there has been some very positive feedback on this, especially as it can be personalised to include teachers names and messages on the stars.

So yesterday, while Sophie played out in the sunshine and Elliot played inside on his mat, between naps, lunch, phone calls and coffee, I had a very productive day making and taking orders and watching my online presence grow. It was great. Here's to more of that.

Emotional Rollercoaster

Hello everyone,

Huge apologies again to you all. The run up to Christmas was busy with Christmas Fairs and preparing for the birth of our baby boy (elective Caesarian booked for 14/1/2014).

Then on top of everything, Wayne's Nan was admitted to hospital with pneumonia on Christmas Day.  Our Christmas and New Year seem to have been spent constantly at Gloucester Royal, if not visiting Nan, with false starts and weird baby symptoms.

Elliot Roy Tuckwell was born - as planned - on the 14th January. The first 48 hours of his life were worrying. He couldn't maintain his body temperature so was in an incubator for a few hours. He was also born with a grunt, so the hospital decided to start him on antibiotics and take bloods to grow cultures which would show if there was an infection anywhere. Those were the longest 48 hours, waiting for the cultures to grow. As it was, the grunt disappeared after a day and he was given the all clear, which meant we were home as a family again 48 hours after right. I was so glad to be home.  We were both concerned about how Sophie would be with him, but she has been perfect. Such a caring, doting, and helpful big sister.

Wayne's Nan continued to have good and bad days in and out of hospital, she was finally sent to Lydney hospital for recuperation with a view to sending her home at some point..... When the Norovirus hit.  She finally succumbed and died in the early hours of the 27th January. Just as Wayne was due to return to work after paternity, he now had to take time off to execute Nan's estate and all the associate problems.

Needless to say, we are only just getting back on our feet...slowly. I have postponed the website launch, currently in the process of tidying my craft space (again) and then onwards and upwards.

Sophies Save the Date

So I've finally finished designing Sophie's Save the Date Cards for her naming ceremony in April 2012. I'm now just making up all the components to complete the 50 cards that we need to send out.  Found it really frustrating trying to produce a pretty girly card which was easy to reproduce because of the number we need, something which I can follow the theme through onto the invites when I do them. So am going to go with a flower and butterfly theme.

To start new things, one must have a clear desk...

and mine definitely wasn't! My office/craft space was a tip, parts of projects everywhere, craft papers all over the place and not filed away because I couldn't be bothered, and numerous projects I've taken away with me to do still in bags since coming home from god-knows-where.

So I've just spent the last 2 hours blitzing the place. everywhere is tidy, I just have a few more papers to file away and then I can start crafting in earnest tomorrow! First on the agenda, Save the Date Cards for Sophie's Baby Naming Ceremony in April.

Welcome

So here is my first ever blog. It's taken me ages to design it so that I'm happy with it - it would appear it's not just my craft mojo that's done  a bunk, but my design inspiration too. Probably something to do with this little lady:

Sophie May was born on the 14th October 2011 to a very ecstatic Mummy and Daddy. She was 1 week old in this photo but is now 6 weeks old today. She is changing every day and I'm loving it. We now have plenty of gurgles and laughs and little noises where she is trying to find her voice.

Needless to say my craft aspirations have had to take a back step, but I really want to get on with it again now. This blog is just the start. I'm going to start up the website again so that I can hopefully start selling some of my wares, which is what I really want to do. I have obviously missed the Christmas market but I still have Christmas Cards to make for friends and family, then I'm going to concentrate on Valentines.  I've 'borrowed' an idea from a fellow mumsnetter of setting a timer for 15 minutes every day where I need to do craft. I'm in the middle of tidying up my desk/craft space, so I can get on with it. Sophie will join me in the office in her moses basket while I'm crafting.
