Distressing - a new technique

Evening All,

Just thought I would share today's make. This is my noteblock box. It has a sliding drawer which containers a note block and the top is easel style. Normally I would decorate these with layered backing papers, may be a stamped image or sentiment and some embellishments.

Today I decided to go for something completely different.

A while ago now, I bought some distress inks and pads. Not many, just a few to get me going. Then I hesitated. Having seen such beautiful examples on the net, it put me off even trying. I then had to convince myself to try, that everyone has to start somewhere. And so we come to today. I dug them out of the depths of my craft cupboard and tried....and this is what I came up with...

This was my first time distressing, so I was very pleased with the result and won't hesitate to use this technique again soon. This box will be for sale alongside other items on my stall at the Kingsway Craft Market on the 27th September.

Thanks for dropping by. Catch up again soon.

Demonstration

Evening All,

Something I've been meaning to do for a while is a demonstration of my papercrafts.  I was asked to do one at my WI (The Beacon WI https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Beacon-WI/434415990070378?fref=ts ) and after much deliberation about what to do that would suit all abilities, especially beginners, I decided to go with a swivel box card.

So my demonstration was at last night's meeting.  I talked about how I started out in crafting, the tools I use, where I shop for supplies, techniques and then we made this...

Everyone really enjoyed it. It was quite nerve-wracking as it was my first ever demonstration. But I am so passionate about what I do and demonstrating to a group of friends certainly helped. I really enjoyed myself and looking forward to doing more in the future.

Mozart

Evening All,

Working hard on lots of projects at the moment. Finishing off some wedding bits for a Wedding next month, making cards for another customer and preparing for various upcoming events I am attending. Busy Busy!

However today has been a slow crafting day, spent pondering over fond memories of my feline friend Mozart, who sadly passed away last night. She was a great friend, comfort and companion for the last 16 years, to me and to my Dad, who she has lived with for the 8 years or so.

It is a privilege to remember her through my Business name,  an amalgamation of her name and mine.

On my Crafting Journey again

Afternoon All,

I keep starting my last few posts with an apology for the lack of posting...this one will be slightly different.

Yes I am sorry I haven't been posting. I completely lost my crafting mojo earlier in the year, struggled for ideas and inspiration, wondering how to carry on and where I wanted to be and what I wanted to achieve.  So after a lot of thought and soul searching, I've come to the realisation that I can't give up, I love my crafting too much. So now, I am on my Crafting Journey again. My challenge is to make something new every day,  re-build my website and get my business really going.

Here's a recent make - beaded bookmarks - to wet your appetite for things to come.

Thank you all for your continued support

Wedding Fair Review

Evening All,

Finally recovered from my first Wedding Fair on Sunday!

I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon at Chipping Sodbury Wedding Fair. Talking to couples and families for 4 hours about their upcoming weddings, stationery requirements and ideas really gave me a real buzz and thirst to do this again. I had so many good comments about my stationery - as a crafter you make a lot of products and sometimes never know if you are making quality saleable items - which was very reassuring that you are doing the right thing.

Meeting up with one of the couples I met there tomorrow morning, to discuss in more depth their stationery requirements and hopefully finalise an order with them.

I also had a business to business enquiry for guest books, which was fab!

So happy right now...more incentive to really make my craft business successful
